Grade Search or Grade Control: Choosing the Right Method for Reliable Metal Verification
Quality driven organizations recognize that preventing material mix-ups begins with reliable verification. Modern manufacturing environments depend on processes that can distinguish unknown alloys from known specifications with confidence – relying solely on labeling is insufficient. Consequently, Positive Material Identification (PMI) is essential for preventing mix-ups and safeguarding product quality.
In this live webinar, you’ll learn exactly when to use Grade Identification / Grade Search for unknown materials, and when to rely on Grade Control / Grade Verification to confirm an expected grade quickly and confidently.
If you know what the grade should be, verification gives you the fastest, clearest answer: OK or No Match. If you don’t, identification helps you narrow down possible candidates from your grade libraries. Quality minded organizations recognize that they retain ultimate responsibility for ensuring accurate metal verification.
We’ll outline a practical approach for inspecting incoming and outgoing components:
- Identify unknown metals with grade search
- Verify known grades with a clear match/no match result
- Choose the right tool for each task
We’ll demonstrate real world workflows using mobile OES for rapid alloy checks, handheld XRF for quick specification screening, and show how adding grade information enhances results even on stationary OES analyzers.
This is rounded out by a brief overview of the SPECTRO metal database – how it works and how it effectively complements the work with the spectrometer.
Why Attend?
- Strengthen quality assurance by aligning verification steps with the right analytical method
- Reduce risk by integrating fast and reliable grade verification into inspection workflows
- Improve decision‑making with structured grade data and proven metal analysis tools
The webinar will take place on Thursday, March 26th, and will take around 30 minutes, after which we'll answer your questions live.
