Introducing SPECTROPORT LIBS — Reliable On‑Site Metal Identification
When testing the elemental makeup of metals in the field or at the worksite, mistakes matter. An alloy ID error at a pipeline or a shipping dock can result in missed defective welds or necessitate batch rework. When results are required directly at the worksite, analytical performance must remain consistent despite changing conditions, time pressure, and diverse alloy types. LIBS technology — a type of optical emission spectroscopy (OES) — enables accurate identification, verification, and determination of concentrations of most alloys, rapidly and reliably, right on the spot.
In this live webinar, we will introduce the SPECTROPORT LIBS, a portable laser‑induced breakdown spectroscopy analyzer designed to deliver reliable OES performance outside the laboratory — including the key elements carbon, phosphorus, and sulphur.
The session will describe how on-site measurements support alloy identification and grade verification while reducing delays caused by laboratory transport and sample preparation. The presentation also shows how the portable system is designed to support efficient workflows, improve confidence in results, and simplify operation across applications, as well as how elemental analysis with advanced LIBS technology complements established mobile metal analyzers and bridges the gap between handheld and mobile devices.
